Maxthon designed the Nitro web browser to be as simple, as uncluttered, and as fast as possible. That is why the browser does not have extensions, it does not feature any cloud services, and it doesn’t have any ad blockers. What it does is a very simple and uncluttered interface that can be used to quickly access websites, to surf the web at blazing fast speeds – even faster than Chrome, which is renowned for its speed.

When Maxthon released Nitro in December 2014, it touted the fact that this is the fastest PC browser in the world. The company said that Nitro installs and starts 3x faster than Chrome and loads web pages 30% faster than Chrome.

It must be mentioned that Nitro wasn’t always called Nitro. In September 2014, when Maxthon introduced the Beta version of this browser, it was called MxNitro. In the spirit of creating the lightest and fastest web browser, Maxthon later decided to slim down the name. And so, MxNitro became Nitro.
